Tough as Nails began as a partner competition for our CrossFit community to support our local families affected by Pediatric Cancer. Over the last several years we have had additional opportunities to bring awareness, raise funds, and provide in different ways. In a nutshell, we help in ways that are often forgotten and or overlooked and try to fill in the gaps where we can. We partner with both Pediatric Oncology departments at UMC and Covenant Childrens’ and when given the opportunity we also work directly with these families.
During our biggest event – our Tough As Nails Competition (which is also the largest CrossFit competition in West Texas), we collect hundreds of toys and or items from a wish list provided by the Pedi-oncology departments. In addition, we are so privileged, by honoring kids who have either gone through treatment or are going through treatment by sharing their stories and creating special workouts named after them. These HERO workouts (WOD’s) are structured in ways to give a small resemblance to what these kids go through.
The Board, Travis & I would like to invite our community; businesses, schools, friends, and family to get involved. If you would like ideas and/or information on how you can be a part of our cause, please contact me, Kellie, if you are interested!
Most importantly… Please keep our organization, mission, event, and families in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you! – Travis & Kellie
